  • Biographical/ Historical Note

The Butte Meadows- Jonesville Community Association Collection represents an accumulation of primary and secondary source research, used by the BMJCA history committee to compile the book A Small Corner of The West. Published in 1998, the book covers the late 19th Century and the 20th Century of the history of the Northern California region of Butte Meadows, Chico Meadows, and Jonesville. The collection documents the development of forestry and logging, as well as other pioneer use of the land, like cattle drives in the area. The BMJCA historical committee gathered oral histories from elder community members about the historical cabins located in the area, as well as the pioneer families who settled and developed the area.

  • Scope and Contents note

The photographs have been removed, digitized, and are available on Chico Digital Collections. Some maps have been removed and are shelved throughout the Map Collection.
